Winter Supper

It's still snowing here and temps are at 14 degrees!!  So, I set a late winter supper table.  I like the word 'supper', my parents always referred to it as such instead of 'dinner'.  Dinner seems so formal.  I set up the gate leg table in the living room near the back door for a cozy supper for one....

Using the brown transferware plate and soup bowl......to hold homemade veggie soup, a simple supper with bread....

I am using winter greens since spring is such a loooooong way off!!  The amber glassware did not show up on the paisley cloth so I put them on little saucers from my espresso set.....

 

Cups are from a different set, love that pheasant, pretty colors....

And what's supper without some dessert??  These are faux tarts, how cute is that??

The little pitcher is antique majolica, the custard cup is yellow ware.......the crocheted square cloth is one my mom made,  and my fav shawl provides the color.......

 

Napkin is from Italy, handmade from girls living in an orphanage near where my mom grew up........silver is from my mom....

 

 One of a pair of candlesticks in transferware, they are so tall, but I love them!!

 

 

 The gate leg table was my first purchased antique when I was a single gal, about 45 years ago, think I paid $20 for it and that was a chunk out of my paycheck!!!  The chair was my grandmother's which I recently put new fabric on the seat........

The nest on the left is one that I made using yarns and needle felting.  Just a touch of spring, I know it's coming, just not when!!!

Favorite Pottery

We are still in the throes of a deep winter........so decorating for spring seems silly to me!!  We won't see spring till May up here.  Not ready for tulips or daffodils yet.  So, for a late winter display I got out my pottery, soft colors for now.

And my fav place for display is on my kitchen window ledge.  The lighting in here turns everything yellow, but in real life its not this color!!!

The yummy colander was gifted to me by my BFF....love the glazing....

I thought root veggies were good to display now because they are kept in a root cellar for the winter.......no, I don't have one of those!!

I have a passion for nests and use them year round, not just for spring.  This little pottery planter was found at Hobby Lobby, my fav store for retail therapy......

Isn't that little metal tray the cutest thing??  The metal rabbit is actually a place card holder...

The pottery pot I've had for years, one of my favorite things.......I put in flowers with a cream/beige color, a refreshing change from all the bold colors.  It makes everything light in here.

My old pie plate on a vintage garden book, is the perfect back drop for Mrs. Bunny.  Little vase was a gift from an old friend so many years ago.

We have warmed up to 20 degrees today........see my previous post for the snow shots.  And, just gotta say, I love winter and am not ready for it to end yet.....you probably think I am crazy.......but there are so many indoor projects to complete yet.......

I'm trying to get back into the swing of blogging, took pictures and forgot to post them......I'm getting old!!  These are from around Valentine's Day......

 

 

I like to keep the Christmas/winter decor out for now because there is not much color outside and this makes it warmer inside.........

Snow Bound

So many of you are probably so sick of winter now.........I for one love the winter and embrace it!!!  These are just a few shots of the snow in my neighborhood.

taken from my front door.....walkway is buried and the drift is about 2 feet up the storm door, can't be opened till spring!!!

But, is so pretty when the sun shines, love those long shadows this time of year....

I think it was -3 this day..................keeping the home fires burning!!

Bed making

Since we are having Arctic weather here, I decided to get the electric blanket on my bed.  And there is Annie helping me to make the bed!!!  She did a good job helping me to straighten things out..........not!!!

 

 

She let me get the coverlet on and seems to like it!!

 

 

I can't seem to get enough of her!!!  And she definitely likes the warm blanket at night!!!  So do I !!!!

I am also dragging my feet to put away the Christmas stuff........I like to leave all the greenery out and some colorful things while we are in the depths of winter here in the northeast.......

Trying to get my life in order and redirecting my paths in the new year.  Doing a massive clean out and trying to move on after a terrible 2014.  I constantly pray for some energy and to lift my spirits. Getting rid of what's not working for me in the past.  And hope to return to blogging and pick up being creative.
