A Winter Table

Okay, I gave in and bought something new for Christmas.....a mercury glass candle holder....the price was right and so ..... treated myself!!!  And it fit right in with  my aqua and brown tablescape that had been dancing around in my head for weeks now......I know, I'm slow to get started!!!

I used a mix of my fine Lenox china with some of my mom's china from long ago, and  laid it all out on a rich chocolate brown table cloth.  To highlight the center decorations, I used a crocheted runner/doily.

My favorite little vintage style sled painted aqua graces the center of the table.  In the background, in front of the windows, you can see my little Christmas tree in a red transferware bowl sitting on an antique wicker table with an oak top.

Aqua lantern from Pier I this summer, shiney bright from my mom, my son's baby cup holding cinnamon sticks.

A miniture of the large sleigh.......so cute !!!

An old brown crockery tea pot with a vent hole in the center of the knob on top......

Mercury glass ornie from TJM last year.....love the sparkle!!!

Christmas Buffet

All my seasonal decorating always begins with the buffet in the dining room.......it is huge and lets me be so creative and it sets the mood for the rest of the house.  Living in a tiny house, with no mantle and limited space is a challange!!!  This year in my quest for simplicity, and making life easier for these old bones of mine.....I am only putting out my favorite things that hold special meaning for me, and getting rid of all that extra fru fru......is that even a word???

I started with my favorite blue and white, which is a classic for all seasons!!!  And, I shopped my own stash in the basement and made no new purchases this year......also a quest for an austerity budget!!!

I started with my holly table runner and added the old tool caddy ....... filled it with greens, holly, cones, fall leaves and other natural elements for a rustic feel.   Out came my vintage willow bowl, and fillied it with vintage shiny brights that were my mother's and grandmother's......love those!!!  The tin I purchased in Boston on a wonderful trip about 20 years ago.........and the precious painting on wood of Santa and child done by a local artist is at least 25 yrs old!!!

Rust tin snowflake, is that cute or what???

Blogger is not cooperating with me today so am unable to put links in for the parties.......sorry......
