Falling Hutch

Time to change up the cherry hutch to Fall.....I love this sweet piece of furniture and enjoy decorating it!!!  I have featured more of my yellow ware collection.  Yellow ware is clay pottery that is naturally that color.....it just has a clear glaze over the finished product.  It is utility ware and the work horse of the kitchen.  Many pieces are English and some are USA.  The yellow color varies depending on the source of the clay.

Pieces that have colored bands around them are not painted, instead, the potter would blow colored slip through a pipe onto the piece while turning on a potter's wheel. Some pieces are thrown and shaped and some molded.  These pieces are from the 1800's.

This tea towel has the tiniest of stitches for the design!!!

Some pieces have paint sponged on the raised portions, this is a rare pitcher.

If you run your fingers over this bowl, you'd know the white bands are raised indicating they are blown on slip.  The mug has a Rockingham glaze on it.

The theorem painting was done by me years ago, the copper pieces belonged to my mom and I love them for Fall.  The large lace square was made by my Nonna and is a pillow cover for my baby carriage!!!  By now, I guess its an antique!!!

I'll be joining the parties displayed on my side bar, just click and it'll take you there!!!
